... that I'd do anything for sugar cookies?

Even go down to Kaari's house and help her sew some more. At least this time she made me dinner. JK, Kar is always super sweet and offers to make us dinner a lot. More often than I offer to make her dinner, now that I think about it...

Anyway, I told her I wanted to make sugar cookies and then she REALLY wanted me to come! I made the dough while she made dinner... and then we realized that Kar has no cookie cutters. Disaster? No way.

Kar made two cookie cutters out of cardstock and foil. She whipped these together in like 5 minutes! I was seriously impressed. But maybe she was just desperate for cookies hahahahahaha

They turned out perfect! But only because I frosted every single one and my OCD took over a little bit.

A lot a bit.  But it didn't matter cause everyone else was distracted by "A Goofy Movie." LOVE! But Matt was distracted by something else:

This is the face of a boy who just bought a very very very expensive snake. Cause he won it in an auction that I was pretty sure he was going to lose. But then he won. And now we have ANOTHER snake. Seriously. I can only blame myself.

I love cookies! And my husband. Obviously.

... that we love burgers?

I mean Matt. Matt loves burgers.

Pure joy.

... that I am the best sister?

Kaari has been asking me to alter her clothes for her ever since she realized I had a working sewing machine. She sweetly asks if she can come over and bring me some cookies or cake or something... and then brings a bag of pants that need to be skinnier or a shirts that are too wide or skirts that need hemming. Love that girl.

Luckily for me, she recently somehow conned Zach into buying her a machine of her own! My altering days are over! Or so I thought. First thing she wanted to do was bring her machine to my house so I could teach her how to use it. Should have seen that one coming. Anyway, we invited them all up for dinner and a sewing night. Zach immediately made himself very comfortable in our softest blanket:
(Look how happy he is hahahahahaha!)

And Kaari and I set up our Singers in my sewing room!

Are we adorable or what??? Kar's first project turned out pretty cute: a darling headband for the cutest little model ever.

We didn't even care that it was way past her bedtime and she was basically having a mental breakdown by the time we were done. Well, we cared, but we didn't do anything about it. Sorry, G.

I love being a big sister! Most of the time. Okay, always :)

... that we love museums?

I have always liked museums, and Matt does too. Our first "non-date" was at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art! Anyway, The Babies were taking Mom and Dad to the MOMA at BYU for a special exhibit on Christian artists called Sacred Gifts and we decided to tag along. It featured art by Carl Bloch, Heinrich Hofmann, and Frans Schwartz, and it was really amazing. There was something about walking through the quiet museum with its naturally reverent atmosphere and studying pictures of Christ that was relaxing and spiritually uplifting. Art is so powerful! Plus we got to hang out with the fam, which is always a good time.

Matt LOVES art, so I wasn't that surprised when he asked if I wanted to get a print of something. We finally decided on this print:

"Agony in the Garden" by Frans Schwartz. I think it is beautiful and it reminds me that Christ will lean over us and comfort us in our own trials.

While we were down in Provo, we also went out to eat at Station 22 Cafe and visited the BYU Bookstore. Matt and I both had some things that we have wanted to get framed, so we spent a little time down in the frame shop in the bookstore basement and finally got a custom frame made for my San Francisco poster that Brooke gave me for Christmas! All in all, it was a pretty great day.

I love spending the day with family!

... that we had another anniversary??

It's been two years!!!

Matt was super sweet this year for our anniversary! I wasn't expecting anything at all, but Matt totally scored major points with a couple of great gifts:

He knows me so well.

My other gift was a total surprise! He took the painting that Jake gave me from Haiti several years ago and had it framed! And it looks awesome!!!

I've been wanting to have this painting framed for a really really long time! It makes me really happy!

We also had a little dinner date at the Cheesecake Factory. Obviously.

People say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. Well, because of some personal things I was going through, this year was kind of hard on me. But Matt is the sweetest, kindest, most perfect and wonderful husband I could ask for, and he helped me get through all of my struggles. I know he will always be there for me, no matter what. Probably with this face:

I'll take it.

I love my husband!!!

... that I got a Christmas miracle?

Harrison Tradition dictates that all the siblings draw names for Christmas presents each year (kinda makes sense since there's 12 of them, plus spouses). This year Brooke was lucky enough to draw both me and Matt. She asked each of us for opinions on what the other might like, and I did my best to give her a few suggestions. I had no idea what Matt had suggested for me, but she came up with the idea for some art for Matt. Matt is a bit of an art connoisseur, so I thought that was a great idea.

Christmas night after dinner, we all trooped downstairs to the basement to open the rest of our sibling presents. We had already opened our stockings and Matt and I had opened all of our presents to each other, but we had collectively decided to open sibling presents in the evening when more people would be there. When it was our turn, Brooke gave us our presents at the same time: matching packing tubes. Matt opened his first, but it was empty. Instead, Brooke pulled out a cool abstract painting from behind her back and brought it to him. Next was my turn, and surprise, my tube was empty too. I thought art was a cool gift idea (great for decorating our new place) and was excited to see what Brooke had picked out for me. But I was not prepared for what she pulled out from behind her back.

I only lived in San Francisco for a short time, but it changed my life in so many ways. While I was there, I visited the Museum of Modern Art twice: the second time was my first "non-date" with Matt, but the first time I was there I fell in love with this exact print. I love everything about it: the simple rich colors, the abstractness of the labels, the intricate details of the district borders, and the memories associated with each of these districts that I love so much. It was probably three years ago that I first fell in love with this poster, but for whatever reason, I did not buy it at the time. I was probably too poor from just moving to the city. But I never forgot it. When I moved out of the city, I think I even searched online for this poster because I was so sad to leave the city that I loved, but once again I never bought it.

Three years later, Brooke is handing me this print.
The exact print that I have always wanted.

I asked Matt if he had somehow known that I loved this print, if I had ever mentioned it to him. He had no clue. He had only told Brooke that he thought I would like something to remind me of the city.

Since I left San Francisco, my life has changed by leaps and bounds. This past year has been especially hard on me, and I have had to deal with a lot of personal trials. I have struggled with feelings of self doubt and have longed to feel the influence of the Spirit more in my life. I finally managed to dig myself out of my pit of self pity, but it was not easy. And now at the end of this year, when I have struggled and cried and fought and plead so much, Heavenly Father has sent me a reminder that He knows me. He knows who I am. He knows what I want. He knows what I need. And He wants me to be happy. He wants all of us to be happy. Because He loves every single one of us. No matter what.

We are children of our Heavenly Father, who loves us!

... that it is CHRISTMAS?!?!?!?!

These are the only pictures that I managed to snap of the craziness that has been the last 2 weeks. Here's a quick recap because I'm getting over a cold and have a slight headache:

-Moved to Salt Lake
-Ward Christmas Program (I had a solo! *shameless bragging*)
-Christmas shopping
-Delivered last minute Christmas presents for my boss
-Tire exploded in the fast lane of I-15
-Christmas Eve extended family brunch
-Christmas Eve immediate family dinner and Christmas Nativity
-Blick Family skyping session with the missionaries
-Christmas Morning: stockings, breakfast, presents, dinner, more presents
-Jamie's surprise baby shower
-Trent's homecoming and afterparty
-New Year's Eve dinner with the fam
-New Year's Eve party with friends
-Not enough days off work
-Still unpacking, probably until the end of time.

I've basically been sleep deprived and fighting a cold the whole time. But hey, it's not the holidays if you're not running around like crazy and on the verge of cracking the whole time, amiright? Oh wait, is that just me?

I love crazy holidays with family!
