... that my baby sis came to visit?

I am so happy that I have another sibling living in Utah finally!!!!!  My baby sister Cait is a freshman at BYU, so who does she call now when she gets homesick?  ME!

Cait called me the other day begging to come up for the weekend.  I asked her what she wanted to do, and all she said was "Eat food that someone else makes me!"  So after a most stressful bus ride from Provo to Sandy (in the which Cait forgot her temple recommend as she was sprinting across campus to 2 different bus stops and panicking that she didn't have the right amount of bus tokens), I calmed her down with some homecooked goodness:

Chicken Broccoli Casserole (a Blick fave, for sure) the first night, followed by my mother in law's French Breakfast Puff's for breakfast the next morning.  Then a little stir fried Beef and Broccoli and some peach cobbler for dessert.  When you say, "Cook!"  I say, "How high??"  Or something else that makes sense.

We also introduced Cait to LJ, our baby ball python.  She loved him!  Obviously.

Sorry, Kar.  Apparently you've been replaced by a snake in the photoshoot department.

Saturday night we treated Cait to a dollar movie:  STEP UP REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!

Don't ask why this picture happened.  It just did.

A little excitement before the movie started...

Aaaaand our tribute to the movie at the end.
(Our hands say SUR.  In case you didn't catch how awesome we are.)

All in all, our weekend was pretty great.  Cait and I got to read a lot (us Blicks love our reading parties!) and Matt's sister came to our rescue, picking up Cait's recommend from her dorm and bringing it to us so that Cait could watch the dedication of the Brigham City temple with us (thanks Renee!!!)

We had so much fun!  But it did make me miss my other sisters.
Oh, and my bro too.  Gllllllll...

I LOVE YOU CAIT!!!!!  Come stay with us again soon!

... that we are True Blue Cougs?

Matt and I are both graduates of BYU, and therefore big Cougar fans.  Little did I know that before I met him, I had no idea what it was to be a TRUE fan.

What is my husband doing in a craft store, you might ask?  Oh, just buying 2 yards of blue fabric.  But not just any blue fabric; he spent 10 minutes picking out the perfect dark, navy blue fabric.
Notice it matches the color of his BYU windbreaker and his BYU shirt that he is wearing underneath his BYU windbreaker PERFECTLY.  His hat is also BYU, in case you can't read.
We also purchased some white fabric spray paint at the store too.

He then brought the 6 ft of fabric home and created this:

A giant Y stencil made of newspaper and lots of masking tape.
This thing covered our entire kitchen table.

But when the stencil came off, it really was quite impressive:

I asked him what exactly he was planning to do with this thing?  His response included ideas such as:
1. Hang it in front of the house on game days.
2. Wear it as a cape.
3. Bring it to games and wave it around.
4. Put it on the flagpole in front of our house.
5. Put it on a pole and stick it out the back window of the truck so that he can drive around with it.
6. Have someone hold it in the back of the truck while he drives around.

And not only does he now have this beautiful flag, he kept the Y stencil.  So that he can "put a big Y on anything I want now!"

Here it is, hanging proudly in front of our home on gameday.  It didn't bring us much luck against the Utes, but it is still pretty awesome. Matt told me, "If we don't have 200 eggs on our house by the end of the day, this flag is NOT doing its job!"  Good thing our neighbors are nice.

GO COUGS!!!!!

... that I LOVE THE FAIR?

For our 8 month anniversary (I know, we're embarrassing), I begged Matt to go to the Utah State Fair.  And it was SO MUCH FUN!!!  I have always loved fairs, but Matt was less than excited.  Nevertheless, we took off after work and made our way up to the fairgrounds.
First item of business: fair food!!!!

I thought about what I wanted to eat all day long:  chili cheese fries, of course!!!  Matt and I walked around the whole fair grounds, looking for the most delicious fries.  And they did not disappoint!  Later on in the evening, we split a foot-long corn dog, a fresh squeezed lemonade, and a bag of about 30 mini donuts covered in cinnamon sugar.  THIS is why I love fairs.

I learned that Matt's favorite part of the fair is the livestock.  This fact surprised me at first, but I quickly realized that I shouldn't have been surprised at all: it's stinky, smelly, and just kind of gross.
No wonder he loves it.

Okay, I'll admit it, I loved the livestock too.  It's like a giant petting zoo!!  We saw pigs, sheep, cows, birds, and the cutest little bunnies you ever saw!  But it was scary too.  Look at that picture of that bull. It is easily a foot taller than me.  And that huge horn?  I didn't have to pretend to be scared in that picture.  I was terrified.  Notice I am the only one in the picture... Matt didn't dare get close.  And yet mothers were pushing their young children toward it, saying "It's okay honey, don't be scared!"  That's good parenting right there.

Last but not least, we bought a few ride tickets!  My favorite fair ride of all time is the Zipper!  You get in a little cage thing and it spins and flips and twirls all over the place.  I was laughing and screaming so hard my throat hurt at the end of the night.  If you ever see it at a fair, it is the best!

Next was Pharaoh's Fury.  Also pretty good.  I think you can tell we had a good time:

Needless to say, this is probably one of the funnest anniversaries we've had so far (others have been spent in the ER and other various stages of sickness...  Don't ask).  We had a great time and it was the perfect end to our summer!

... that I started a blog at work?

So my sister Kelly has been bugging me to start a blog.  She says she wants to know more about what I'm doing with my life since I've separated myself from all the other Blicks in California.  You would think that talking on the phone all the time is enough, but I guess I am just that awesome:  the world wants more.

But there were just a few problems with starting a blog:

Problem:  I don't want to start a blog.
Answer:  I start one to make Kell happy.  Love you sis!

Problem:  I don't have internet at home.
Answer:  It's really slow on a Thursday afternoon at work... Soooooo...

Problem:  I can't figure out how to work stupid Blogger.
Answer:  Good thing it's reallllllly slow at work.

So after several hours of painstaking editing, my blog is now available to the world.  Stay tuned for more updates:  it's about to get crazy up in here.

You're welcome.
