... that Mom and Dad came to visit again?

They just need to buy a house here already.

They came up the weekend after the 4th... probably for a missionary wedding. But we're always glad to see them! Especially when they want to eat at Spitz!!!

We are so grateful that they can stay at our house and help take care of Jas, especially when she wakes up looking like this:

That is boogers. Everywhere. Crusted all over half of her face, jammies, blankets, and sheets. But don't worry, Grampus made sure to post this to Instagram before he cleaned her off. Mean Grampus. Mom made up for it by making us come chicken tsu and a giant batch of spaghetti sauce. Both of which were mooched from us by Cait and Kade.

Mom and dad also somehow convinced Jas to start walking! FINALLY!!! I am convinced that she just refuses to do anything for me and Matt. She only crawled for the daycare ladies, and she only walked for NaNa and Grampus! She is a stubborn, stubborn girl!

Mom also went to Park City with us on Saturday to have breakfast with Amber and Cody!

She was visiting for the 4th and we squeezed in a little visit right before they left town! Love my best friend of 18 years! And love this stinky baby who was trying to be cute after being extremely needy and annoying while we were all trying to eat.

Love her anyway! And love Am and NaNa and Grampus!

... that it was the 4th of July!!!

We love the USA!

Our 4th started out a little rough (cranky baby = cranky mommy = nobody's happy) but we fixed that in the afternoon with a little sunshine and pool time.

Jas LOVES the water, and the pool in our housing complex is not too shabby! After cleaning up and a little nap, we headed down to Sandy for fireworks!

We had such a great time!!! Food trucks, music, friends, dancing, fireworks, and family: it was perfect. Jas was so good and loved everything, especially my Brazilian lemonade. It was so cute to see her curled up on Grandpa's lap watching the lights!

'Merica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... that we got a new bishop?

A little while ago, we found out that our bishop was moving. It was a big surprise, because he hadn't been bishop that long. A few weeks later, we got called into the Stake President's office for an interview and started panicking... Turned out that he was just interviewing all the priesthood leaders and didn't say anything about the bishop leaving, and when we left we both sighed with relief.

Then a few weeks later, we got called back in and...

Hello, Bishop Harrison.

I wasn't really surprised at all. Matt is a wonderful, wonderful man and always the first to step and serve others. I know he will do great things in this ward. I know they need a bishop who is loving, kind, patient and selfless. Now if he only had a wife to support him who was also all of those things........

When I called my parents to tell them and ask them to pray for me us, Mom immediately started looking at flights. I didn't expect them to drop everything and come out, but her exact words were, "I am NOT missing this!" So they came out for a very short weekend trip to support us.

Cait and Kade also told us they wanted to come to our ward to support us see if Matt would cry (which obviously he did, he's Matt) and of course Matt's parents came to our ward too. I'm sure the whole ward knew what was up when we walked into ward conference with all of our family members and Matt's beard shaved off, but no one ran away crying or booed us, so I guess they were okay with it.

Jas is so proud of her daddy that she has officially dubbed him her new favorite parent/slave

And of course she loved having NaNa and Grampus around, if only for a few short days.

Matt told me he wanted to ease into his bishop duties slowly so that he didn't get too overwhelmed. Immediately after that, we found out the Girl's Camp was happening that week and he would need to make an appearance. Obviously.

Don't worry, Jas is smiling in that pic, not dying.

Girls Camp ended up being super awesome, even if it was a two hour drive there and back on a Thursday night with a very tired toddler who wanted to play in the dirt and we didn't get home until almost midnight. The first of many Bishop adventures we will have, I am sure. I am grateful for a husband who is always willing to serve wherever he can, and has the faith to do whatever the Lord asks of him. He is definitely the rock in our family, and I would be lost without him.

We love our Bishop Matty Pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... that Jas was 15 months!

Jas' newest things are this silly smile

And puckering her lips.

She loves kisses now, and it is my favorite. She gives kisses to everything: mom, dad, daycare ladies, people at church, bottles, books, toys, the couch, phones, TV remotes... she loves it all. It makes putting her down for nap time a little more difficult when she insists on kissing her bottle, my lips, nose, arm, and hand all 50 times each before she goes down, but who could get mad at that?

Jas also loves all the food.

Even some weird pickled mushrooms that we got in a Blue Apron meal from Granny Tanny and Grandpa. Seriously. She gobbled them up like a little weirdo.

She loves snuggles with Daddy

And snuggles with... the couch

Some of her favorite toys include the TV remotes and mommy's hair brushes

And I have also been successful in teaching her to sleep with her eye's slightly open.

Everyone gives me a hard time about not putting her in shoes ever (she doesn't even walk, people!), so I finally bought her the CUTEST sandals. Brought them home and put them on her:

Waaaaaay too small for her giant pudgy feet. She basically had no circulation to her toes. But they were so adorable, I made her wear them for a few weeks anyway.

I love this little stinky baby so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... that Matt said:

On his wonderfully healthy self image:

"My chest is like laying on a rock. With just a little layer of fat on top."

"We need a big lamp that will light up the whole room. Like my personality."

On diversity:

"Honey, I'm definitely more diverse because I married a half Asian woman. You, on the other hand, married me."

Kade: "I had yellow fever once."
Matt: "I still have it." *winks at me*

On socially acceptable topics of discussion:

"Honey, I think you need to realize that there is a difference between gross talk and scientific, fun talk."

"I don't know why people don't talk about hemorrhoids more."

Parking under a tree in LA: "This spot's a little shady. Just like all of Inglewood."

On healthy eating habits:

Matt: "I'm so hungry!"
Me: "You didn't eat any lunch."
Matt: "I didn't EAT lunch, but I DRANK some lunch."
Me:
Matt: "Soda. I drank soda."

"I tried to eat one of those oatmeal yogurts this morning for breakfast, and it was the worst breakfast I have ever had inside the United States."

"We're like Jack Sprat and his wife. Except I'm the wife."

"I just want to go home and relax with some sort of soda that is so large, people know it's from America."

On keeping up with hip trends:

"Are people saying 'Redbox and chill?' Is that a thing?"

"A lot of 34 year old adult men follow One Direction. Just kidding. But I did buy one of their songs. Maybe two."

When I lamented that our ward doesn't have a choir: "I am a choir unto myself."

Love my Matty!!!!!!!!!

... that it was Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day Matty!!!!!

Matt is such a great dad. It's no wonder Jas' first word was "da da." We got to spend Father's Day at home, which was great, so after church Matt got right to relaxing:

For a little while. I had also invited Cait and Kade to have dinner with us, and Kade pointed out what a great husband Matt is when he commented that it was weird that Matt was on the couch while I was making dinner in the kitchen by myself. It is so true: Matt helps me with EVERYTHING. Including his Father's Day dinner, because I eventually asked him to help me and of course he did, even making all of the dessert by himself while I finished the enchiladas.

I should also mention that I made him make extra creme brulee for a family in our ward because they had won it in a silent auction we had for the youth a few months ago and we still hadn't made it for them. I told them we could do it that day cause I would have Cait to help me make it, and then I ran out of time, and Matt had to do all the work. And then I also asked Cait and Kade to stay at our house and watch Jas while we left to go take it to them. So I was winning best wife/sister/host awards all around that night. But the food turned out good in the end, so I guess everyone forgave me. Jas was a little cranky and had a tiny fever when we put her down that night, but it was gone in the morning, so I didn't think much of it...

The next day, we celebrated Father's Day again with all the Harrisons at a picnic dinner after work. It was great to see everyone, but Jas was acting very grumpy and out of sorts. She didn't want to eat and was very whiny... and then we noticed some little sores on her tongue. And we realized that they could possibly be related to the bumps that had recently showed up on her knees, which I had assumed were just bumps and scrapes from crawling everywhere... but now I was freaking out. I had to go to work the next day, so Matt took her to the doctor first thing in the morning and texted me with a diagnosis that afternoon: CHICKEN POX.

What????? She had her shot already! It didn't look anything like pox! It didn't seem to even be itching her! Nonetheless, we called the daycare and let them know, and stayed home with her all week. Matt and I took turns missing work, and Matt's mom even came and watched her for half a day. Jas didn't really seem that sick; she may have been a little cranky and tired and her tongue was sore, but she would still eat soft food and her fever never came back and her pox didn't spread anywhere else. So all things considered, we were pretty lucky. But we couldn't take her anywhere, for fear of getting other people sick, which made it a long week. But we muscled through somehow, and by Monday her pox were all healed and she was back at daycare. I am so grateful that Matt is such a great dad; I would have never survived this week without him!!!

Thanks for being our favorite DaDa, Matty Pants!!!!!!!!!!

... that Jas was 14 months!

This girl.

I am already putting her in 18 month clothes, cause LOOK AT HER. I can barely carry her around anymore, and when I do, people laugh. She is huge! I love Saturday morning snuggle time with her

Which actually looks more like this:

And actually REALLY looks like daddy taking care of her while I sleep in, cause Matt is the best and he loves me. There was a lot of Matt and Jas time while I was in SF, I was sad to leave her for a whole weekend!

But daddy took good care of her! There was a lot of FaceTime,

Some trying to teach Jas about the outdoors (despite what this picture portrays, she does not like sitting on grass),

And some fighting of naptime,

Which led to us deciding to cut out her second nap for a couple of weeks and see if she was ready to transition to just one nap during the day with an earlier bedtime.

BIG MISTAKE. Worst two weeks ever. So back to two naps we go, and I am not going to mess with her bedtime again until she tells me she is ready. Serves me right for trying to be the boss of her.

I feel like she is learning so many things now! She is starting to love animals like her mommy, and is finally creating a relationship of trust with her big sis ChrisTina. She has been crawling around after her for a little while, but now ChrisTina will finally deign to let Jas pet/whack her every once in a while and it is pretty endearing. Jas also gets super excited whenever she sees dogs outside and she LOVED visiting IFA with me! A girl after my own heart.

She is pretty good at church, as long as she is the coolest one there

Or sleeping.

She is also finally getting good at walking with her walker!

Little stinker is so hesitant to walk! She pulls herself up to stand on EVERYTHING... and then whines until someone helps her sit back down because she is too afraid to let go. Oh well, she'll walk one of these days.

Love my baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
