... that Jas was a model again!!!

A couple months after Jas' modeling debut on Instagram, I got another text from my friend Ashley who runs @skiptomylouboutique. She said that her sister has a baby clothing company called Sprout San Francisco, and that she had seen Jas' pics on her insta and asked if she would be willing to model for them too! And this time, they were having a professional photographer come!

What's that? You would like to see how unbelievably adorable she is? Your wish is my command.

She's not smiling in the last pic because it was taken approximately 5 seconds before she threw up all over that crib and the jammies she was wearing. Good thing they gave us that sleeper to take home! Along with all the other clothes she modeled and a HUGE bag of goodies that included baby wash, lotion, sun screen, bows, socks, booties, a book, and tons of other free stuff too. The photographer was so nice, she kept saying that Jas was so pretty, she wished she had been able to take pictures of her as a newborn! As if my mommy ego needed any more stroking.

Thanks Sprout San Francisco, we'll model for you anytime!!!

... that Jas was eight months!

We've been focusing a lot on getting ready to crawl, which means a lot of tummy time practice! Which just ends up looking like this:

Homegirl is not motivated to move. At all. Instead of reaching for toys or lifting up her head to look around, she'll just lay there and smile at you until you pick her up again. I love her so much.

One day, Matt said to me, "I think we need to start taking better care of her hair." And I was all, It's fine! It's not tangled, I brush it out in the bath, and I put lotion in it afterward like they told me at the hospital! And then I looked at her hair a little closer.... and it was not fine. Brushing it out in the bath was not good enough to untangle it (duh) and it was a lot drier and tangled than I realized! Plus it was getting so long, I knew Matt was right: we really needed to up our hair game.

So I decided that I was gonna be Supermom and do all the research and learn how to care for her hair and be so awesome and on top of things and make my baby look even cuter!!!

HA to the HA.

First I tried to comb out her hair by just getting it wet with some warm water and coconut oil and she got SO MAD. I knew it was bad cause she NEVER cries. I felt so bad! It was hurting her because her hair wasn't wet enough, so I just threw her in the tub and doused her hair in water and coconut oil and slowly, carefully, painstakingly combed out every single knot and tangle.

Yes, that is an extremely professional Minnie Mouse comb, and it works just great.

It took quite a while my first time, but I have gotten a lot faster at it and now I can comb out her whole head pretty fast without her crying at all! And just look at that Jerry curl!!! All the heart eyes.

So after I combed out her whole head, I got her out of the tub and put some more coconut oil on her hair just for a little extra conditioning, and I was feeling pretty good about myself! I could do this! It wasn't too hard! I used natural products and her hair was gonna look great! I am a good mom!!!

And then she woke up the next morning and I smelled her head and I wanted to barf. I think my coconut oil was definitely bad, because her hair did not smell like a tropical paradise. It smelled RANK. Plus, her hair did NOT absorb the oil like I thought it would, so it was crazy greasy and disgusting looking, and got oil all over her clothes and blankets and anything else it touched. And I couldn't wash her hair again, because it was so much work to comb it out, and all of my research had said that you can't wash "textured" hair too often because it will dry it out more, and I did NOT have time to wash her hair again before work! So I sent her to daycare smelling like a rancid garbage can. And I was humiliated and just knew that all the teachers at the daycare were going to be wondering why the crap my baby smelled so freaking bad.

That night I went to Walmart and bought some real products to take care of her hair, and good news! My baby no longer smells like a dumpster.

Good thing she is so freaking cute, it doesn't matter what she smells like.

Love my Jas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... that it was time to give Thanks?

I love Thanksgiving!

It was our year to stay in Utah for Thanksgiving, so we celebrated Harrison style! And this year I was in charge of.... THE TURKEY!!!!! Our neighbors had recently moved and given us an 18 lb turkey that was in their freezer, so I called mom and offered it up for Thanksgiving Dinner! After last year's roll debacle, I was a little hesitant to volunteer for something as pivotal as the main dish, especially when I had never cooked a turkey before. But I knew we would never have any other excuse to cook a turkey that huge, and mom promised she would help me (thank goodness!) so I threw caution to the wind and went for it!

We went over to the house nice and early and let the babies play while we got the turkey in the oven

I had no idea that it is SO EASY to cook a turkey! Mom already had the oven bag, Matt was in charge of cleaning, all I had to do was direct traffic! It was great! Until Matt couldn't find the bag of turkey giblets. He pulled out the neck, but insisted that there was no bag inside the turkey. And I asked him to check and check because there is ALWAYS a bag of giblets, but he said there was nothing in there. He asked if I wanted to check myself, but I wasn't about to stick my hand in a turkey's butt, and then mom checked also and she couldn't find anything, so I just gave up. I rubbed it down with butter, mixed up a little flour and seasonings, threw it all in the oven bag and called it good!

It turned out beautiful if I do say so myself!

Dad started to carve it up and after a few cuts... we found the bag of giblets.

1) How am I supposed to know that they ALSO stuff things into the neck hole of the turkey?
2) Who even knew that there is a separate neck hole in the first place?? And why on earth doesn't it just connect to the rest of the body cavity???
3) Why do they stick the neck in the butt hole and the giblets in the neck hole?????
4) Why do they even keep gross turkey necks and giblets anyway?????? Who eats that crap?????????

ANYWAYYYYYYYY,
The turkey turned out great despite the bag of giblets that was cooked inside of it. Or at least that's what people told me. They could have just been saying that to be nice though. There were so many of us that we had to eat downstairs on the ping pong table, and everything was delicious!!! And I was happy as a clam because my plan for timing Jas' naps worked perfectly and she slept the whole time we were eating.

So all in all, I will count this Thanksgiving as a win.

But for your own sake, please never ask me to help with Thanksgiving dinner. K thanks.

... that the Rexes came to town!!!

Kell and Jer came back to Utah for a wedding to visit us! The wonderful Skousens let them stay at their place, so we headed down to hang out! We love those Skousens, so double bonus! Finny is just the best big girl cousin there ever was and pretty much would not let anyone else play with Jas at all the whole time they were there

Don't worry, Jas liked it. But eventually Kell had to put Fin to bed so that she could get her selfie time in

We tried to convince everyone to come out with us for breakfast at Penny Ann's one day, but apparently Kell was the only one that we could tempt with food that morning. But those sleepyheads missed out cause it was delicious!!!

Poor Jas looks like a zombie; she was teething/had a cold and was pretty out of it all morning. She did however manage to muster up enough energy to grab a full glass of water and spill it all over our table and my lap though... so that was wonderful.

We wanted to hang out with the Rexes even more, so we wrangled up some tickets to join them at the BYU Football game... and then they ended up not coming.

Whatever. We had fun by ourselves! They did deign to meet us for dinner at Cafe Rio afterward, so all was forgiven.

And then they talked us into coming back to the house again to hang out more.

We love those Rexes!

Romina + Lance = ROMANCE

Talk about a match made in heaven!

It was a gorgeous day, the temple was beautiful, and we were only about 30 minutes late.

Baby party outside the temple:

And some quick pics afterward

The parents also paid for the photographer to take family portraits at the temple too, and they turned out pretty cute!

After the temple, we headed up to Le Jardin to set up for the reception, which turned out beautiful!

Congrats Lance and Romina! Love you guys!!!!!!!
