Wednesday was our combined Young Women/Young Men activity and the girls decided they wanted to have a cooking challenge activity. They drew numbers that corresponded with ingredients that they had to use to create an appetizer and a dessert. These are the results:
The girls' "Papas Fritas a la Carte." Basically a bunch of chips with BBQ sauce and ketchup on a plate. And a few pistachios. It might have been good if everything wasn't covered in BBQ sauce.
I don't remember what the boys called this, but it was a tortilla sandwich with mayonnaise, mustard, doritos, bacon bits, spray cheese, and cashews. Even grosser than the chip plate. And I know that because I actually ate a bite. Well, I took a bite then spit most of it out.
Dessert went much better:
The girls' "Pop-o-Dulce." Chocolate and caramel popcorn with craisins, a cup of chocolate pudding with graham cracker crumbs, and strawberry milk.
The boys' "Cup-o-Pudding." A cup of vanilla pudding with coolwhip, lots of stale chocolate bars, and strawberries and bananas drizzled with strawberry jam.
Girls won on presentation and naming, boys won on best pudding and... being gross. Really it was a toss up. But we had fun and only burned a little bit of chocolate in the microwave. And by "we" I mean "the boys."
I love being in Young Womens :)
