... that we like the Jazz?

Another day, another Jazz game in the company suite :)

It was a good game, exciting right up until the end.  Too bad we lost in overtime.  But I didn't care, because
THEY HAD CARAMEL APPLES FOR DESSERT.

I literally ate so much of this that I had a stomach ache for the rest of the night.  And by so much I mean the whole thing except for like 2 pieces that Matt ate.  SO GOOD.

I love my job and Jazz games and caramel apples!

... that I have the greatest job ever???

I LOVE MY JOB.

For a few months now, I've been working on planning a retreat with my boss.  He is in charge of a retreat every year for our company's brokers, so this year I got to help.  I took care of all the RSVPs, made arrangements at the lodge, booked all the spa appointments, bought gifts, helped with setting up the casino night, reserved snowmobiles, prepared PowerPoint presentations,
AND GOT MY PARTY ON!

Thursday afternoon, my boss and I went up to Daniel's Summit Lodge to get everything ready.  This place is awesome!  Great atmosphere (log cabin, rustic, westerny feel), awesome staff, and lots of amenities.  And except for a 5 minute period where I thought that I had forgotten the name tags at the office, everything went off without a hitch!  It was so much fun!!!  We started off the night with a social hour, then dinner and presentations (during all of which I was running around like a crazy, paranoid person making sure everything went smoothly), and then the fun really started!

Matt and I played Blackjack for a few hours and had a ton of fun!  Course, it can only be fun when it's fake gambling for raffle tickets...  But we learned a lot about the game and even ended up with a few extra tickets for the raffle!  So fun!  We finally called it a night at around 1 in the morning I think...

The next morning, after a half-asleep, bleary-eyed breakfast at 7:30, everyone got to go snowmobiling!!!

The lodge is up in the Heber mountains in the middle of nowhere, and there was a huge snowmobiling trail with tons of meadows and paths all over the summit.  It was gorgeous!!!  It snowed on and off and was a little bit freezing, but it was a blast!  Except for the part when we had to dig Matt's machine out of the snow for 30 minutes... and then had to dig out another guy's machine after that... but that just comes with the territory I guess.  We rode all over the mountain for a couple hours and had a GREAT time!

We had a quick lunch at the lodge grill, then drove home happy and absolutely exhausted.  I may have fallen asleep on the couch the second we got home.  And took a 3 hour nap.  It was glorious.  And I can't wait to do it all over again next year!

I love my job!

... that I am a cheap date?

My boss asked me to drive to Park city on Monday to pick up some things for the retreat I am helping him plan this weekend (SUPER STOKED FOR THIS).  It just so happened that Matty got off work early that day too, so I picked him up and we had a little impromptu date night!  FUN!!!

We picked up the stuff at Harry and David, then I did a little tiny bit of shopping while he read his book.  Typical us.  And afterward, a little dinner at Arby's.

Apparently I didn't learn my lesson about taking pics with this guy :/

Confession:  I like Arby's.  More than I should.  Kaari and I used to eat it in college all the time cause it was right down the street from her work.  Super embarrassing, I know.  But if you decided to be daring and try it, I'm sure you would like it too.  Because it is good.

I love date nights with my baby!

... that I have the best Valentine?

Last Valentine's day, we had been married for exactly one month.  How romantic to celebrate your one month anniversary and Valentine's Day all in one, right?  WRONG.  I was sick, and there was basically no celebrating.  I think we went out to dinner.  I don't remember.  Actually, I think we went to Macaroni Grill because Cheesecake Factory was too crowded (but you better believe we drove back to CF after and got a piece of cheesecake to go) and then went home and went to bed.  The end.  Pretty non-epic.  Oh well.

This Valentine's day turned out to be a little touch and go as well, but we managed to salvage it in the end.  Mom and Dad were in town for Georgia's blessing, and I told them that we wanted to hang out with them before they left.  Mom said, "How about dinner on Thursday?" and I said, "Okay, I guess we can have a Valentine's Dinner together..."  So Valentine's Family Date it was.  Which meant that Matt and I also had to spend part of our night driving to and from Provo, since Kar can't go anywhere with Georgia (yes Kar, throwing you under the bus.  Don't worry, I only tease because I really DO know how difficult it is.)

By Thursday, I had already accumulated 2.5 hours of overtime at work and I was ready to get off at 4:00.  I headed home to wait for my Valentine to come home and drive to Provo with me.  And I waited.  And waited.  And waited.  Finally, at 5:15, I called my Mom and told her we would not be making our 5:30 dinner reservation.  To which she asked me, "You don't want to come down by yourself?"  Sorry Mom, but no, I do not want to drive down to Provo by myself on Valentine's Day and leave my husband at home.  So they went to dinner and I waited some more.  Finally I got a call from my Valentine, who was on his way home (at 6:00) and wanted me to meet him at the freeway so we could still rush down to Provo and spend time with my fam.  What a sweetie :)  And when I picked him up, he even had a little Valentine surprise for me: a giant, beautiful, white chocolate and cinnamon sugar caramel apple from Kneaders!  DELICIOUS!!!!!  I didn't even bring it into Kar's house cause I didn't want to share it at all.  My man knows how to make me happy!!!

Mom and Dad were nice enough to get some food to go for us, so we met everyone at Kar's place and Matt and I had a nice dinner with the fam after all.

On our way home, Matt decided that we needed one more Valentine's day treat: Tiger's Blood slushies from Holiday!  (Yes, the gas station)

This is what I get for trying to document our lives together.

I love my Valentine!

... that I have been very very busy?

I have a new obsession.  It is called Refashioning.  As in, I want to take clothes and make them better.  For example, I saw this picture on Pinterest:

And really, really, really wanted to make one.  Unfortunately, sometimes Pinterest lies.  This pic was not a tutorial, it was a link to a site to buy the sweatshirt.  Nonetheless, I decided to try it on my own:

Take that Pinterest!  I don't need you to tell me how to be awesome!

I basically tore this whole sweatshirt apart and just sewed it back together to fit me.  And added pockets and edging from a bit of old t shirt material.  And three cute buttons to hold the whole thing together.  It was a LOT of work, and I broke a sewing machine needle, but it's comfy, cozy, and I'll be honest, I'm pretty proud.

The second project was a million times easier.  I have a few blogs that I have been reading for inspiration lately: one is Elle Apparel by the amazing Leanne, and the other is Merrick's Art which I found randomly, but who happens to be a friend of Leanne.  Small world!  Anyway, I saw this polka dot tutorial on Merrick's blog and had to try it on a pair of grey jeans that I had decided were just too plain for my liking:

So fun, right?  And so easy!  Just a paint pen.  The worst part was taking all these pictures of myself.

Always a little awkward.  Good thing I had help:

You are the best, Cait :)

I have 5 more projects in the making... prepare to be amazed.

I love being crafty!

... that I have the sweetest husband ever?

For the past few months, I have been having some back problems.  As in, my back hurts when I wake up in the morning.  We're trying to figure out a way to fix that, but in the meantime, it means a lot of waking up and rolling over in the middle of the night.

I woke up last night and, still half asleep, started to roll over onto my side.  Suddenly, Matt's arm shot out and grabbed me, pulling me back.  I woke up, startled and said, "What??"  I looked over and realized I was a little close to the edge of the bed I guess, but please, it's not like I'm gonna fall out.  I looked up at Matt, who was propped up, hovering over me now, looking at me and the edge of the bed, and repeated, "What's wrong?"  He mumbled, half asleep, "Be careful, honey," pulled me closer to him, and went back to sleep, his arm still wrapped around me.

This man worries about me ALL THE TIME.  If I don't leave work when I'm supposed to, he calls to make sure I'm okay.  If it takes me longer than normal to get home, he calls to check on me.  If I am away from him for any extended period of time (including at work), he is calling or texting to make sure I am happy, healthy, and safe.  I am so lucky to have a husband who loves me so much and wants nothing more than for me to always be safe and happy.

I love you, Matty!
